PetroPoint - introduction

Advantages

• Quick and easy refueling
• Prevents product mix
• Increased automation results in fewer errors and minimised   administration
• Increases customer loyalty

Technical description

This version of PetroPoint is aimed at large vehicle fleets and public/retail filling stations. The installation is very simple since each vehicle only requires one RFID-tag mounted at the tank inlet.

Each nozzle is equipped with a battery operated nozzle unit that activates and reads the tag and then transmits the information to the receiver installed on the filling station.

Properties

• Vehicle identification
• Nozzle out function (temporary stop in refueling if the nozzle   unit cannot read the tag)
• Product identification

Operation

• The vehicle arrives at the filling station.
• The driver places the nozzle in the tank inlet of the vehicle
• The nozzle unit reads the vehicle tag and relays the   information to the receiver
• The receiver sends the information on to the payment   terminal that will authorise the refueling
• Upon authorization, the dispenser with the correct product will be released
• If the driver withdraws the nozzle from the tank inlet,   refueling will be stopped until the nozzle unit once again can   read the tag.

When refueling is completed, the vehicle identity and the fuel information can be accessed by the back-office system.

Automatic vehicle recognition

Completely wireless

PetroPoint is a robust and well-proven system for automatic vehicle recognition based on RFID tags and wireless transmission of information.

Simplified refueling

The refueling process is unchanged except the there is no need for a plastic card. PetroPoint quickly relays relevant information wirelessly. If the refueling is authorised the pump will be released. As an additional option, the odometer reading or operating hours of the vehicle can be transmitted at the same time.

Prevents fuel fraud

Refueling can only commence if authorised via PetroPoint. If the vehicle cannot be identified (no RFID tag or unauthorised RFID tag), it is only possible to refuel by cash payment or by using a credit card. If the nozzle is pulled out of the tank inlet refueling will be stopped and will only recommence when the nozzle unit reader and the RFID tag have re-established contact.

Prevents product mix

In order to release the pump for refueling, the fuel type in the vehicle must be the same as the fuel type in the nozzle. This is automatically verified by PetroPoint preventing unwanted product mixes that can be very expensive!

Easy and reliable installation

The wireless technology allows the installation to be carried out easily and simply. The many reference installations on buses, trucks, cars, diesel locomotives, airport- mining and building vehicles have proven PetroPoint to be a reliable and secure solution for automatic vehicle recognition.

Automatic vehicle recognition

Advantages
• Facilitates and speeds up refueling
• Increases security against theft
• Increases automation resulting in fewer errors and less    administration

Technical description
This version of PetroPoint targets commercial vehicle fleets. The wireless technology makes the installation quick and easy and because there are no moving parts it is also very reliable. All tanks such as diesel or AdBlue can be identified thereby stopping faulty refueling.

On each nozzle a unit is mounted that is a transmitter and as well a receiver. When this battery driven nozzle unit is close enough to an RFID tag, the encoded data is immediately read and relayed to the receiver mounted at the dispenser. Each tank inlet is equipped with a tag and a vehicle transmitter, which sends information about the odometer reading and driver ID, is installed in the driver cabin.

Features
• Identifies vehicles
• Identifies driver
• Communicates odometer reading / operating hours
• ”Nozzle out” function (refueling is stopped temporarily if
the nozzle is withdrawn from the tank)
• Identifies tank (prevents faulty refueling)

Operation
1. The vehicle enters the refueling point within reach of
    the receiver
2. The driver puts the nozzle into the tank inlet
3. The nozzle unit reads the tag on the vehicle and send
    the ID to the receiver
4. The vehicle sends data of the vehicle and driver ID and
    also the odometer reading/operating hours
5. The receiver relays the information to the OPT which     authorizes the refueling
6. Once approved, the pump with the corresponding fuel
     is initialized
7. If the nozzle unit is removed, the refueling will be
stopped until the tag can be read again
8. After refueling, the vehicle ID and fuel information
(and odometer reading/operating hours) are sent to
    the back office system.
