Safety valve with mechanical interlock
With the introduction of new fuels based on ethanol, such as E85, the question of fire prevention has been brought to the fore. The flammable properties of these products differ from those of petrol/gasoline and have to be handled thereafter.

The mechanical interlock feature of the Wennstrom E85 Gard Interlock safety valve ensures that the connection and disconnection of the hose during discharge is always made with a mechanically closed ground tank. This prevents a fire, caused by a spark igniting flammable vapours, from being lead into the under ground tank.

As recommended in the “Handbook for handling, storing and dispensing E85” published by the National
Ethanol Vehicle Coalition, all parts of the safety valve that come in contact with the product during
operation are nickel plated and all seals are made of Viton® or Teflon® (registered trademarks of the
DuPont Company).
