Electronic measurement system
The price of oil and petrol has put stock control and
meter accuracy in focus. To achieve both, the
development of products for petroleum distribution
has been aimed at electronics. Electronic equipment
can enable efficient air separation, temperature
compensation, accurate metering and on-line
communication between the road tanker and the
depot/gantry. This gives ground for potential cost
rationalisation and increased efficiency.
Flexibility
VolumeCheck can be used as a stand-alone electronic
measuring system or integrated with an on-truck
computer (OTC). Together with FlowCheck (an
electronic gas separator) and/or LevelCheck (an
electronic level detection system) more advantages
can be gained.
Conversion of vehicles
VolumeCheck is the right choice, not only for new
road tankers but also for existing vehicles that have
to be converted to meet today’s demands. The
mechanical calibrators are simply replaced with
smaller, electronic ones. This means that existing
rotor meters can be left untouched and do not have
to be reinstalled, a fact that reduces the direct costs
and the time for installation. The installation is simplified further by our unique intrinsically safe "ia" data bus concept (ESDL) which enables data and power to be transported by the same single cable to
each unit.
Foot valve recognition
Incorporated in VolumeCheck is the ability to recognise
the status of the foot valves. This has numerous
advantages: it is possible to avoid delivering the
wrong product to a customer since VolumeCheck
recognises which compartment has been opened and
may know the product in it. The display also clearly
shows which compartment has been opened by a lit
LED.
Communication
The exchange of information between route- and
load planning systems at headquarters and the road
tanker out on a delivery is soon a necessity for oil
companies who face ever increasing competition.
The key word is automation: to minimise the manual
hours and errors by maximising the information
exchange. VolumeCheck has an open and flexible
interface already in use at large oil companies for
this type of exchange of information.
Basic features
- Enables temperature compensated deliveries
- The reduced total size of the meter and calibrator facilitates installation
- Four meters can be connected and run
simultaneously
- The display can be connected pneumatically to the foot valves to show their status (open/closed)
- The ESDL bus enables the units to be daisy-chained to one another making installation simple
- The units can be connected as desired and the display installed comfortably wherever wanted
- The calibration constants are stored in the calibrator
- Few moving parts increase the life span
- Integrated safety features
- Ready to account for delivery of whole compartments
- The delivery information can be transmitted directly for invoicing
- Complete information about the quality, quantity and temperature to the oil company and the customer
- Open and flexible interface to OTC
